A vehicle?s engine is unquestionably one of the most important parts of every vehicle. For this reason, car and engine manufacturing companies have been focusing all their efforts towards designing and creating highly powerful, efficient and high performance engines. But the complexity of the engine as a whole is just one thing. The quality and performance of every part and auxiliary parts of a car?s engine is equally an important basis for the performance of an engine.
Different types of vehicles have different needs and thus are equipped with different engine types of distinct specifications. Trucks, SUVs, vans and other large vehicles, for example, needs more powerful engines compared to the smaller cars like sedans, hatchbacks and station wagons. Engine parts for larger vehicles are also expected to be tougher and more rigid as they are expected to outlast the harsh conditions every large vehicle is subjected to.
But the basic function of every engine is essentially the same, and so with its parts. To be able to convert gasoline, or diesel in the case of diesel engines, effectively to motion, an engine should be equipped with well designed and properly functioning engine parts. Of special importance is the design of the cylinder head, the pistons and the piston rings, which are the main components of the combustion process. Also of primary importance are the various valves responsible for injecting fuel and allowing combustion by products to get out of the cylinder. Along with them are other engine parts like camshafts, crankshafts, oil pumps and others are also important for your engine?s maximum output.
Here at Parts Train, we know that the engine is the most important part of your vehicle. That?s why we provide you with a complete and comprehensive line-up of parts that would support its functions. Australian investigators were to arrive Friday morning on Batam Island to help the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee search for debris from the engine of a Qantas Airbus A380.
The Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine exploded on Nov. 3, shortly after the plane took off from Singapore. The plane, which was carrying 440 passengers and 26 crew, returned to Singapore and landed safely.
The Australian Transport and Safety Bureau said any parts and debris found on the Indonesian island would be sent to the Rolls-Royce facility in Derby, U.K. for examination.
Australian investigators have also wrapped up their interviews with the crew of the stricken aircraft.
"It is anticipated that the examination of the management of the emergency will identify valuable insights into the handling of future emergencies in the A380," the bureau said in a statement.
The ATSB also said it has examined the engine on the plane using borescopes, which are tube-like microscopes that are flexible enough to get into hard-to-reach places.
The engine is to be removed from the aircraft this weekend.
This week, the European Aviation Safety Authority said early analysis "shows that an oil fire" in the engine "may have caused the failure of the Intermediate Pressure Turbine Disc."
